Health promotion

Disease prevention – screening
Smear Results
Smear test results take 6-8 weeks on average and are posted out to patients.
Includes all common conditions: asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, stroke and TIAs, epilepsy, chronic kidney disease, hypothyroidism, dementia and more. Contraception service: there is more information on contraception and the available options including the increasingly popular long-acting reversible contraception (LARCs) under Women’s Health.
There is also further information on various aspects of sexual health including accessing various sexual health services under Sexual Health.
Coil / implant contraceptive devices at the surgery
Please see a GP first for contraceptive counselling, and then you will be able to book an appointment for the fitting of the coil/ implant contraceptive device.
Maternity medical services with the support of our local maternity team. There is more information on pregnancy and local services under Pregnancy including how to self-refer to the local hospital.

Please call the Health Visitor to make an appointment. Their contact details can be found in contact details under the tab “community teams working with the practice”.
There are a number of clinics and services which are provided on our premises by external organisations
There may be some support in the practice you can access directly without needing to go through a doctor or nurse. For example, this might include a NHS physiotherapist or voluntary service. Any “in practice self-referrals” can be found in the self-referral section under Contact Details And Self-Referral.
Many of the national screening programmes such as breast screening take place outside the practice, we fully support these national programmes and would encourage all our patients to take up these opportunities when you are invited.
