Disease prevention – screening

  • Cervical cytology: Support with cervical screening includes information and a helpline to help with having a smear. This also includes when and how you will be invited for cervical screening.
  • Child health surveillance with the support of our local health visiting team.

Smear Results

Smear test results take 6-8 weeks on average and are posted out to patients.

First Contact Physiotherapy

Our first contact physiotherapist Srimadhuri Venkatesh (Maddie), works Monday to Thursday at the surgery, and can help with a whole range of Musculoskeletal issues:

Inclusion Criteria

  • All soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries
  • Arthritis – any joint
  • Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone, eg tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains
  • Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
  • Spinal-related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, eg pins and needles or numbness
  • Changes to walking
  • Post-orthopaedic surgery
  • Review of pain medications, prescriptions, MSK fit notes
  • Cortisone injections – if deemed clinically necessary after triage by Maddie

Exclusion criteria

  • Acutely unwell
  • Children under 16
  • Women’s health, antenatal and postnatal problems
  • House-bound patients
  • Medication reviews
  • Neurological and respiratory conditions
  • Headaches
  • Acute mental health crises
  • Patients who have already been assessed and are currently being treated by a Doctor for an ongoing musculoskeletal issue

We offer both telephone and face to face appointments.

NHS screening - national clinics

Many of the national screening programmes such as breast screening take place outside the practice, we fully support these national programmes and would encourage all our patients to take up these opportunities when you are invited.
