Meningitis ACWY vaccine
Young teenagers, sixth formers and “fresher” students going to university for the first time are advised to have the vaccination to prevent meningitis and septicaemia, which can be deadly. There is more information from NHS choices MenACWY vaccine – NHS.
Shingles (Herpes Zoster) vaccine
A vaccine to prevent shingles, a common, painful skin disease, is available on the NHS to people in their 70s. There is more information from NHS choices Shingles vaccine overview – NHS
You’re eligible for the shingles vaccine if you are aged 70 to 79. If you are worried that you may miss out on the shingles vaccination, contact the GP surgery to arrange an appointment to have the vaccine.
