New ways to access care at The Ivers Practice

As part of NHS Directives to modernise general practice, The Ivers Practice has moved to a triage first model and embraced digital technologies. The ultimate stated aim from the NHS is to improve capacity and access for all patients. Our partners hope these steps can help stop the morning rush on the phones, and stop the need for queues outside the surgery in the morning. Some of our working-age patients also find the same day appointment system frustrating to plan accordingly and we hope these changes alleviate these issues.

Most requests for appointments will now need to go through our e-Consultation system provided by a software partner (AccuRx). This will be triaged by our practice team with the support of a senior doctor. You could then recieve a response by text message or a call to let you know about next steps, for example inviting you to book a face to face appointment at a time to suit you. Most of the time, you will receive a response on the same day.

Should a patient be unable to use the online services, and they do not have someone that can help them with this, they are still able to call reception where a receptionist can complete the online form on their behalf.

If you are able to navigate a website, please do not call to book a doctor’s appointment or make an admin query on the phone going forward. Please use the e-Consultation platform instead.

There are daily capacity limits so we recommend making the request at 8:30am in the morning on working days.
