Hospital NHS care

Under Hospital we cover a number of common questions which include:

  • How to change your appointment details, and how to change or cancel your appointment, or cancel your referral
  • How to deal with queries around tests generated by a hospital specialist (including the results)
  • How to deal with queries around medication issued following a hospital outpatient attendance
  • How can you contact the specialist nurse who supports the Hospital department you are attending (e.g., Rheumatology (Rheumatology specialist nurse) or Cardiology (Heart failure specialist nurse)?
  • What support there is for transport to and from hospitals (including how to book transport if eligible)
  • How you can book a blood test at your local hospital

We also deal with questions around hospital admission which include

  • How can you be supported and also helped with decisions while in hospital and what support is there on coming out of hospital (discharge)?
  • How do you deal with queries around medication issued following a hospital inpatient attendance?

What conditions may not be funded on the NHS?

Community NHS care

NHS community care adults
We have provided a section on the different teams which support adults in the community, a number of which you can self-refer to. When you are under these teams you can contact them all directly without needing to go through your GP practice. These teams include amongst others, district nurses, podiatrists, and occupational therapists, as well as teams covering specific support such as with alcohol and drugs.

NHS community care children
We have provided a section on the different teams which support children in the community, a number of which you can self-refer to. When you are under these teams you can contact them all directly without needing to go through your GP practice. These teams include amongst others, health visitors, school nursing team, and speech and language therapists, as well as teams covering specific support such as with healthy living.
